FROM FOSTER CARE TO THE FRONT LINES
Arturo Flores understands the challenges facing working families because he lived them. As the son of immigrants from Zacatecas, Mexico, and one of ten children raised by a single mother, Arturo’s early experiences in the foster care system forged a lifelong dedication to public service and community stability.
RECORD OF SERVICE
Driven by a duty to serve, Arturo joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as a Military Police Officer and Military K9/Bomb Dog Trainer during combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Following his military service, he earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science from UCLA and pursued graduate studies in urban planning at USC.
ADVOCATING FOR THE VULNERABLE
Before entering public office, Arturo dedicated his career to empowering others. He worked as a Youth Counselor with Optimist Youth Homes and Family Services, and led advocacy efforts for returning heroes through the UCLA Veterans Network, Student Veterans of America, and The Mission Continues.

DEFENDING IMMIGRANT FAMILIES
During the June 2025 federal immigration raids, Arturo took immediate action to protect Huntington Park's mixed-status families.
ROOTING OUT CORRUPTION
Arturo believes that every taxpayer dollar must be accountable and every action reviewable.
KEEPING FAMILIES HOUSED
As rents rose across Southeast Los Angeles, Arturo fought to keep residents in their homes.
City Hall belongs to the people. Arturo enforces an open-door policy for residents and demands uncompromising ethical standards from city officials. He will continue to push for audits, transparency reforms, and equitable community engagement.
As a former Marine Military Police Officer, Arturo knows what effective public safety looks like. He believes that true community security is achieved when law enforcement and constitutional civil rights go hand in hand. His administration focuses on transparent policing, due process, and equal protection for all residents, regardless of immigration status.
Our city's future depends on the next generation, and our character is defined by how we treat our veterans. Drawing on his background as a youth counselor and veteran advocate, Arturo prioritizes city resources that provide mentorship, educational pathways, and support networks for young people and returning service members.
Leadership isn’t just a title—it’s about taking decisive action when the community is tested. For Arturo Flores, this principle wasn't learned in a political boardroom; it was forged during his childhood as a foster youth navigating a complex system, and hardened on the front lines as a U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran. Throughout his time on the City Council and as Mayor, Arturo has consistently stepped up to tackle Huntington Park’s toughest challenges because he understands that working families cannot afford leaders who hesitate.
When crises arise, Arturo’s approach is clear: face the issue head-on, protect the vulnerable, and demand accountability. He doesn't shy away from the hard conversations or the heavy lifting. Whether that means publicly standing up to federal agencies to protect immigrant families during the 2025 enforcement raids, demanding audits to root out local corruption and safeguard taxpayer dollars, or navigating complex negotiations to finally pass rent stabilization for local tenants, Arturo leads from the front.
To Arturo, decisive action means moving beyond empty political promises to deliver tangible results. It means governing with an open door, a transparent agenda, and a commitment to protecting constitutional rights. By combining his military discipline with his deep, personal empathy for working-class struggles, he has redefined what it means to be a public servant in Huntington Park—proving that true leadership is measured not by the office you hold, but by the community you protect.
